Course Description:

This course is designed to know about the faith in Islam, Effects and characteristics and major branches ofFaith so as to enable students to understand Faith in the light of Qur'an and Sunnah.

Course Outcomes/ Objectives:

* To discuss the objectives of Faith and examine it in the light of Quran and Sunnah

* To explain Effects and characteristics

* To explain faith and ethics

Contents:

Unit-Nature and Scope of Faith in Islam

·         Origin and Development of Faith (Animism, Polytheism, Henotheism and Monotheism )

·         Definition  Shirk and its Various Dimensions

·         Faith in the light of Holy Qur’ān and Sunna

·         Opinions of the Scholars about Faith in Islam.

Unit 2- Basic Elements of Faith (Īmān) in Islam

·         Belief in Allah and His Angels

·         Belief in Revealed Books

·         Belief in Prophethood

·         Belief in Hereafter Life

·         Belief in the Decree of Allah 

·         Distinctive Characteristics of I‘tiqād

The effects of faith on individual and community life
